Thai Foot and Leg Massage

Thai Foot and Leg Massage

Thai Foot and Leg Massage is a relatively new treatment that has been adapted from 2 ancient techniques: Reflexology and Traditional Thai Massage. It has only been taught and practiced in Thailand since 1999.

Origins and History: Thai Masseurs studied Chinese, Korean and Japanese forms of Reflexology and combined techniques from Traditional Thai Massage for the feet and legs. The roots of Reflexology go back to China 5000 years ago and Egypt 2500-2330BC. There is evidence that foot massage has been practiced throughout history by a variety of cultures when pressure therapies were recognised as preventive and therapeutic.

Unlike Reflexology, Thai Foot Massage is not diagnostic, but works to stimulate all the reflex zones of the feet and it includes Thai Massage techniques that stimulate energy flow in the legs and stretch the ankles and feet.
